Purchase of 5.1 speakers (1 Viewer)

I'm looking to buy a 5.1 surround sound package. budget of $1000.
I'm looking at the premier acoustic PA-6F or
the Home Theater Direct HTD Level 2. any info. or better options.

Sadly your in exactly the same place I was a week or two ago. There's no one that can make the choice for you. It also depends what your planned usage will be. If it's mostly HT then you can also look at the BIC Acoustech setup. If music you can look in to SVS and Onix. Personally I wanted the all around value which led me to the Level 2's you mentioned from HTD. Were they the right choice? I'll know in a couple weeks.

Personally all I can tell you is go audition some speakers and get a feel for what you like (warm, bright, etc...) then look up some of the ID brands that give you what you're looking for.

I will say stay away from the HTD subs, they were the only thing I could find bad write ups on for HTD. I went with the BIC Acoustech H-100 sub as it's supposed to be great bang for the buck.

Good luck with your quest. It almost drove me insane.

Ascend Acoustics HTM-200s all around with either a Hsu or SVS sub would fit the bill too. Ascend has a nice little holiday sale going on now too.
