PSB Alpha T or Image 5T? (1 Viewer)

Hey guys,

I have a choice between the Alpha T floorstanders (brand new) or a 9/10 quality (Audiogon rating) for approximately the same price. I will plan on using the speakers for listening to movies in Dolby 5.1, but also frequently listening to Classic Rock music.

I am wondering because they appear to have different builds, and that the Image series seems to be much more available. I felt that I could start out with some Image 25B speakers for the fronts, and then when I could afford the 5Ts, I'd go ahead and put the 25B speakers in the surrounds and the 5Ts in front.

Thanks in advance for any help!

The 5T is a better speaker in all respects. It's bass goes lower, the treble is cleaner, and it will play louder than the Alpha T. This is, of course, as it should be, since the 5T was retailing for about 200-300 dollars more than the Alpha.
The Alpha is a warmer sounding speaker- you may prefer it to the 5T.
I have heard both; they each offer excellent sound at their price point- only you can decide if buying a used pair is something you want to do.
