I read some where that removing the protective plexiglass shield from RPTV's enhances picture quality. I bought mine aftermarket for around $200. Should I ditch it? Anybody else have any thoughts on this?
I have a 61" proscan rptv. Thanks for the help.

The extra layer will dim the brightness and reduce a bit of sharpness.
But my cover has SAVED my TV several times in the last 5 years. I have 3 daughters, lots of young nieces/nephews and dogs.
So if you are not in a hazardous living condition, you can remove the shield. (but then...where do you store the thing?)

I'm moving this to the TV area. We'll probably see more good responses there. For the record my (now ancient but it still looks great to me! [IMG]) NTSC RPTV has only the unprotected lenticular screen. Seems fine to me. All those clear screens cause glare out the wazoo!!!! I can't stand 'em!!
