I just got a flyer from J&R music world and they had what looks like a good deal on a Pronto remote. The Pronto TS1000 for $129.99. Even if this is an older version, it seems like a good deal. Anyone else seen this?

I picked up one of those refurbs from JandR as well as one for a friend. Both units were in excellent condition and essentially indistinguishable from a new one except for a sticker on the back which indicated that the unit was redone by Philips. Casings were scratch free and all accessories (programming cable) were included. Pretty cheap way to get into the world of Pronto.
As shipped, they have an older firmware version. Be sure to download the ProntoEdit 1.05 software from www.remotecentral.com for the TS1000. Then you can update the firmware via the programming cable and ProntoEdit. This is an older model with less memory but it is plenty for most systems. Mine still has 18% free memory despite having 15 complete remotes and fairly extensive GUI loaded into it.

This is an incredable deal and JandR will price match their flyer you just have to call them.

Am I nuts or what? I knew about the $20 lower price but decided not to go after it because I also know J and R took some damage in Sept. As far as I'm concerned they could have the extra $20 listed on the web site. It's already a great deal.

    Thanks...

    cool guy!
I decided I wanted to buy something from them just for the hell of it, and this is a good opprotunity. I'll make my $20 "donation" as well.
I think I want to pickup a pronto for an experimental case study for work- we do all sorts of interface work, so this should be an interesting excercise.

That is a hell of a deal on the TS1000 and it tempted me
but I decided I gotta have the TSU2000 (would of course like
to have the TSU5000 but no, I refuse to pay as much for a
remote as I did for my Receiver)
