Ok, I know that DD5.1 is better, but I was wondering if someone could take some time and just give me a list of differences and why DD is better.
I am just curious to see what they changed
Thanks in advance!

DVD discs encoded with 5.1 have 5 separate channels encoded and a sub channel. DPLII takes a 2-channel recording and processes the sound to divide it into 5.1 channels that 'resemble' DD.
i'm really not that impressed by DPLII. i loved the demo i heard of 5-channel CD music, but at home, i really prefer stereo! in a nutshell, DPLII 'estimates' what 5.1 channels will sound like and produces them from originally 2-channel sound. Dolby Digital has all 5.1 channels already separated for playback, and is FAR superior IMO.

It's an apples-to-oranges comparison. Dolby has repeatedly said that DPL2 isn't intended to compete with DD 5.1. It's merely an enhanced playback mode for 2-channel material.
