What angle can you ceiling mount a projector at?

    In other words,

if you have a ceiling mounted projector (8' ceiling)

how low can the screen be at a distance

of 11 to 12 feet away. In this configuration

(if the top of the screen is 5' off the ground)

then the distance from the projector to the top of

the screen will be shorter than the distance from

the projector to the bottom of the screen - is

this ok? Do projectors have enough depth of

focus/field to accomidate the varying distances?

I would assume that it depends on the projector being used rather than one stock answer for all units. In my case (a Sony VW10HT) you mount the projector so that the top of the lens lines up with the top of the screen for a ceiling mount. This automatically makes everything line up properly. For your example, if the top of the screen is 5' from the floor then the projector has to be mounted so that the top of the lens is 3' from the ceiling.

(In my installation the screen is ~1 foot from the ceiling.)
