Isn't progressive scan DVD doing the same thing as Sony TV's DRC circuit? Then, which is better? If DRC is better, there is no point of progressive scan feature, isn't it? Thanks.

    Greetings

Biggest mistake most people make is to confuse progressive scan DVD players as only doing line doubling/3:2 pull down. There is much more to a progressive scan DVD signal than that.

Cleaner signal, improved resolution, better colour purity.

If you feed the TV a 480i signal, you will never get that stuff back since they are not present in the 480i signal.

    Regards

DRC is not better (than a typical cadence-reading DVD player) for movies. It is better for video-sourced things like sports.
