I have a URC MX-780 and the installer says he recommends only programing it to open each input device i.e. a Smart TV button, a Apple TV button, a Roku button etc...

What I would like to do is have a Pandora button, a Netflix button, a Cable TV button etc...

The installer says this is possible using macros but is unreliable because what happens is you program SmartTV>Apps>right push>right push to give say Pandora. If there is an update or Pandora gets moved in the menu then the button is directing you to the wrong spot.

Is there a way to program the remote so that it goes directly to these apps?

Thanks

Hi Jim,

It depends on your specific devices, but generally your installer is probably correct. If the remote that came with your TV has dedicated app buttons, your universal remote may have a learning function that will allow it to copy those buttons. Otherwise the macro option would probably be your best bet, but it does have the already listed pitfalls.
