Programming "Action" button on universal remote? (1 Viewer)

I just got a Yamaha RAV220(the one that comes with the RXV1, not the touchscreen) to control everything I own. It has learning and all the good stuff but I was just wondering how to program/learn buttons that have two different functions with the press of the action button prior. I have a hughes DTV RCVR and the remote has an "action" key that causes buttons to have 2 different functions. How does this affect programming the universal remote?

Just a guess here but I would think that you would have to program the universal with two different buttons. The DTV remote should emit two seperate signals : one when you push a button, and another one when the "action" button is used in combination. Have the new remote learn each command on a seperate button.
