Just tried to run ETF, with all connections made as per the ETF manual (using RS SPL meter as mic), I am getting feedback through the subs. The sound card also has a mic input as well as line in and line out, Im not sure of the model of the soundcard - I borrowed the computer from a friend who has no idea whats inside of it. Any suggestions?

Harry.

Did you get thru the initial calibration first? The one that has you loop the input to the output and set the sound card levels.

Harry,
Just want to make sure you've seen this site too.
There were a few gotchas that snagged me the first time through. One being the fact that windows has two mixers (a record and a playback mixer).
I also found that my sound card had 2 line outs.. but the only one that worked with ETF was the lineout that went to my PC speakers.
Later on, I had another unusual problem with the channel 2 (sound card input) being overdriven. Seems I had installed a program (Morpheus, I think) that must have altered my mixer's settings a bit. That one had me scratching my head for a while.
HTH.

Rick,Pete thanks for the replys, I got through the calibration procedure o.k., and the mixer is setup correctly for both playback and recording.

Harry, I came across the following info that may be of help to you:

>The mixer output needs to have all muted except the wave out. The mixer record input needs to have all muted except the line input. If this is done, it is not possible to have ETF give feedback.

Rick, yes im still getting feedback, the mixer is setup correctly. I agree that with this setup it is not possible to get feedback, but im getting it! Must be something weird going on inside the sound card. Should I try connecting the RS spl meter to the mic input on the back of the soundcard?

I had the same problem and the way that I fixed it was to first make sure that all options under recording and player in the MS Windows progam are displayed. Initially I only muted (on the player side) what I saw (Windows did not show me all choices!). The player side also has a choice for input (and many others) and that (along with others) must be muted too! or you will get feedback.
