Problems with ordering Superman Returns? - Now over! (1 Viewer)

Amazon now has this available for preorder at $27.95.

I put it in my cart but the 10% discount wasn't applied to this, and when I checked there was no information about that discount listed with this HD DVD. So, I'm going to hold off for a little while to see if this is one that they won't apply the discount to or if it will become available once they get the listing in better shape.

RANT ON:
Certainly sucks seeing amazon listing the BD at $4 cheaper. Combos suck ass. Oh sure, here's another $4 for something I don't want or need. I was going to wipe my ass with those $4, but I may as well spend them on a higher priced than necessary combo.

Also saw it listed for preorder at the same $27.95 at Target.com.

Will have to keep an eye open to see if I can get the amazon 10% discount on this. Also have to see if anyone else has a better price. Would prefer to off-set as much of the combo's extra expense as possible.

I ordered it from DVD Empire using the Google Checkout discount. It came out to 23 bucks and change shipped.

and also no 10% discount on Smallville HD 5th season too....,
but some users(at avs forum) wrote to amazon, and they've got emails that they will get those 10% ...........

Not only did Superman Returns HD DVD return on DVD Planet's "Just Announced" list, but it auto-reappeared on my pre-order list with them too!

There might be a problem with the BRD release of Superman Returns not offering the same audio advanced codecs that the HD DVD release will have so be careful when preordering. I almost ordered the BRD because it was cheaper than the HD DVD release, but after checking the specs., I decided to hold off until I get some more confirmation.

It seems that you're still entitled to the -10% at Amazon for this title.
Furthermore: if the BD version doesn't have a TrueHD track (or any lossless equivalent) than the HD DVD is worth $4 more (or so) by itself. So perhaps the fact that it's a combo doesn't make it more expensive after all.

Just for the Dolby True HD track I will have to pick up the HD-DVD over the Blu-ray version for this title.

HD-DVDs with TrueHD audio are not priced any higher than those titles without it Cees. Unless the disc is a combo that is.

According to a sepcial update newsletter from Laser's Edge......The studio did not allow posting for pre-order of Superman Returns until October 31.

I have found that when one orders HD or BD titles from Amazon when they are first posted that the 10% flag seems to not yet be applied. It seems to take a couple of days before it works. With a call to customer service, they do a manual correction.

forbidden planet box setand maybe at least one other pre that has been up for a few weks now still dont allow a 10%.
i ordered FP box set 2 weeks ago then called when the 10% was only
on the 2 other hd dvds in the order.

she said she cannot adjust for a preorder but after it ships i can
call again and get the adjustment.

i'l probably cal again and ask a different csr.
