    model SD-V593.

Factory pressed movies seem to play fine.

I've had problems with some burned DVDs. Sony discs always worked, some Fuji discs worked but not many, some Memorex worked. Tonight even a Sony disc started causing me problems. ALL work on my cheaper Samsung player as well as my computer.

This Toshiba is a higher quality machine with upconvert capabilities. I would think that it would play anything my lower quality machines do. Do I have a bad one. Should I bring it back and try a new one? Is it possibly something in setup?

Well a new machine does exactlty the same thing. I guess it has to do with the compression of the burned DVD or something that prohibits the upconvert player from reading it. Odd though that I've had little problem with Sony DVDs. I need a cheap DVD player in order to play all of my DVDs? That seems screwy. [IMG]
