When I turn on the guest account and then later switch back to my account to turn off the guest account XP crashes with a message saying that it's saving everything from memory to the hard drive. This is a new problem because I was able to manage the guest account earlier without XP crashing. How do I fix this? Is a re-install my best option?

Have you tried restoring from a date prior to the problems?

As Neil stated XP does have a kind of Go-Back software that is installed when you install the OS. The Go-Back software is defaulted to on unless you turn it off manually. If you disabled the software then you may want to try a OS repair from the CD.
