When playing certain digital cable channels, The sound would only come out of the center speaker when set on Dolby prologic II mode on the reciever.
I thought prologic would make a stereo source into a 5.1 signal.

Put your head up to one of the surrounds...you should hear a little bit

Pro Logic tends to do that because ~70% of the sound comes from the center channel.

There is nothing at all from the mains and the surrounds. Just the quiet hiss of the speakers.

I dont remember the brand.
On some channels the Prologic II works perfectly, but others sound only comes from the center speaker.

I may be wrong, but I believe this is how it works.

If the broadcast is in mono all your sound will come from the center speaker.

If the show you're watching is broadcast in stereo your receiver will convert the stereo sound into dolby pro logic.

Many cable channels are still mono.. Just reality....

Surround is NOT possible from these channels. Try your all channel stereo on them. I find on on old B&W Movies this provides best sound.
