I am currently trying to set up my version of a whole house system for basically just audio and I am having issues with my Adcom (GFA 555II) amp. Short story is that the amp is running through an SMS10 into a volume control and for now one set of speakers. I have gone through pain staking measures to ensure there are no shorts, wiring is tight and correct etc. Turn the system on, and it blows the DC rail fuse on the left channel. I recently changed out the volume control as it was deemed defective when it was set up differently (w/o the SMS10), and blowing the right side. If the SMS10 and volume control are taken out of the picture, the amp works just fine. Any help and/or advise anyone can throw my way would be greatly appreciated!!!

see of you can change the impedence on your volume control. They usually have a jumper that can be swithched for different ohm ratings.

Thanks for the responses. The volume control unit that I have is not adjustable. Just went thru the whole thing again and it is still doing the same thing. If I take the volume control out of the picture, and leave the SMS10 in place, it works fine (process of elimination). the volume control is rated for only 60 watts --- Could that be causing the problem? Everything seems to surround the volume control.
