I have a Audiopro MOS 1200 pro-amp. Its for my sonosub. It puts out 1200rms into 4ohms bridged and is about 15yrs old. It is a mosfet design.

Anyway I can't seem to get any volume from it. I hook up the subout on my reciever to the amp then hook the sub(free air) to the amp. The sub is a blueprint 1503. I've tried putting a crossover between to boost the signal. I have an old sansui pre-amp that I put between and still get no volume. I hooked my mca anthem 2-channel up to the sub just to compare and it was a lot louder. It is only 200watts.

I seem to clip the signal if I run it too high(little indicator lights go to the top and the limiter light goes on) Also the sound gets distorted. I was wondering if they run on different signal types and if there is anthing I can use to match the signals/voltage. I had the amp checked out by a tech and it is in good working condition.(he even made an offer to buy it.)

Is the amp throwing the woofer just as far (xmax) as the anthem? If you can clip the amp, the problem lies in the output stage of the amp. BTW, you won't get much volume driving it "free air" anyway.

Jeff,
No the woofer is not moving very much. If, for example, the anthem is playing 80db then the pro-amp is playing 60-65db. I realize I won't get much volume I just wanted to play around a bit:) The preamp I put inline can boost output by 8volts. At least that's what the specs say. the crossover is active and can boost by 6db or with the outputs coupled 12db.
