I'm wondering when Private Benjamin will be released on blu-ray. The film was a hit when released in theatres, but all that exists is a pan & scan DVD. There are a number of other Goldie Hawn titles that have not been released as well: Seems Like Old Times, Swing Shift, Foul Play, Wildcats, Protocol, and Best Friends. I love them all, but Private Benjamin is her best. Eilleen Brennan was terrific in it too.

Based on the reviews and box office on her most recently released project Snatched ... I'ld say not soon ... <_< ...
That doesn't mean I wouldn't like a release of Private Benjamin (et al)

What does one have to do with the other? By your logic, since Robert De Niro's last two movies (The Comedian, Hands Of Stone) tanked, that means there won't be any blu ray release of This Boy's Life or Mad Dog And Glory anytime soon.

The newly reopened Quad Cinema just completed a Goldie retrospective and I thoroughly enjoyed the double feature of PRIVATE BENJAMIN and SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES. Both prints had seen better days and I was surprised to see, when I checked later, that PB has still never been released in widescreen on home video. I watched with PB co-star Toni Kalem next to me and she wanted to know why Warner Bros. had seemingly let PB fall by the wayside. Surprising considering its great box office success and the presence of an iconic star like Goldie.

Amazon has an HD stream of PRIVATE BENJAMIN. I'm confident that this will make it to Blu; if JOE VS. THE VOLCANO can, via the Warner Archive, there's hope.

(Amazon also has HD streams of CACTUS FLOWER and SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES, both Columbia releases. Maybe a job for their Choice Collection BD-Rs, or Twilight Time?)

Until this year Hawn hasn't had a movie released since 2002 .... according to IMDb ... according to the same source Mr. DeNiro has had at least two movies released every year SINCE 2002 (including the highly successful ...Fockers movies)... he more in the public eye as star ... "the studios" are less likely to release something with someone less in the public's mind as a star. DeNiro can still get a movie green-lit once he signs on ...

It's called Show Business ... the the last coming first in the eye of the bean counters at the companies ...
But stranger thing have happened ...

Again I am not against the films being on bluray ...only trying to think like someone who would be looking to release a bluray for profit ...

I stand by my statement that the success or failure of Snatched (which will most likely break even with its modest budget) is irrelevant to whether Private Benjamin will get a blu ray release. Hell, they're releasing a blu ray of The Lonely Lady with Pia Zadora. Why? Because she's an iconic star in the public eye? :) No, because the company that licensed it thinks it can make a profit with it. If Warners can release a blu ray of The Wheeler Dealers, hardly a box office bonanza (with stars currently in the public eye) that people have been clamoring for, then a massive hit with an iconic star like Goldie Hawn would seem a sure bet.

I don't know why they even have to be Warner Archive. I would think these would be popular enough to warrant a regular release, but at this point I'll take anything over the pan & scan DVD.

Out of curiosity, how does Warner determine what gets released as archive and what gets released regularly?

I've been a fan of Goldie's since I was a child and she is seriously underrepresented on BLU so few classic Haven films are available.

I'm a huge fan of Protocol as well as Dollar$ but I want all her films released. seems like old times is one of my favorites but I want them all.

I am sure a lot of this has to do with the condition of the elements and the cost of getting the films ready for blu ray. Just because a film is available for streaming in HD doesn't mean it is ready for blu ray. "Auntie Mame" as an example I believe it was stated on these boards is only available in 1080i for streaming.
