I am looking for a printer that will print larger media than the standard 8 1/2"x11" or even legal size. Do printers such as this exist? Not looking for a plotter, but something that can give photo quality color on very large media. Price is not too much of a concern, but would rather not go above the $1000 mark.

    Any help would be appreciated.

If you want to print photos, the Epson Stylus Photo 1280 and 2000P are what you're after.

They have a 13" wide carrage, and can take paper rolls, so you can print images up to 13x44 inches in size.

The main difference between the 1280 and the 2000P is price (the 1280 is ~US$500, the 2000P is ~$900). The 2000P uses pigmented inks which are 'archival quality' and are said to be colorfast for well over a century.

You won't go wrong with either printer. The print quality really is photo quality. Some pro photographers use them for prints they sell.

Be aware that to get the best results you need to use special paper. The price of that combined with the amount of ink you'll go through to print such big images means that the cost of consumables will outstrip the cost of the printer pretty quickly.

For even larger prints, epson makes a couple other models, but for 'photo quality' you're in their professional graphics line, and prices get *much* higher. I don't have any experience with these printers, so can't comment more.

We have a 2000P at the office and the print quality is fantastic. And it allows a large range of sizes. We've used it to print banners, as well as 11X17 posters.
