Prima 42" Plasma Issue (1 Viewer)

Hello!

This is my first time posting here at Home Theatre Forum. Nice to meet you all. I would like to start off with a question.

One of my friends has a Prima 42" Plasma and some time after the warrenty, he was watching tv and he heard a "pop" sound and the picture was gone. There still is sound but just no picture. What could be the culprit here? Thanks.

It could be a resistor or capacitor in the display driver controller or power supply. It's also possible it was an internal fuse, but unlees it was a serious over-current situation they just make a quiet pop when they go. It won't be in the main PS, because then there wouldn't be any audio, either.

If it is still under warranty, contact the manufacturer or retailer.

Too bad the warranty is gone already.

How much does it cost to fix usually? Thanks...
