Predator R2 - Spanish/Italian versions uncut?? (1 Viewer)

Hi there guys, this is my first post.
Does anyone know for definate, if the Italian and Spanish versions of 'Predator' are fully uncut? (not just the "stick around" scene, but all the other stuff, like the raid on the bunker.
I take it all the Euro version have an English 5.1 track?
Will any version have the subtitles burned on at all (please don't say yes!)
I have heard that the French version is uncut, I want to find out as I am going on a cruise holiday in 2 weeks so I can pick and choose which version I get (hopefully!).
However I can't get the R1 cus my player isn't chipped, though I wish it was...

The Spanish version is identical with the German and completely uncut. I do not know about the Italian version.

Firstly, welcome to the HTF! It's always a pleasure to see more and more people from my side of the pond dive into the World of Home Theatre and you've come to the best place on the web to discuss it.

For what it's worth, Ben, have you looked into how possible it is to get your player chipped? You'd really be opening up a whole new world in gaining access to releases from all DVD regions. I've heard the Anamorphic Dolby/DTS re-issue of Predator is really quite something. What player do you currently own?

Hi Dan,
So I take it that a number of members are not UK based.
I suppose its to be expected - is this an American site?
I suppose as its not a .uk site, more foriegn members are expected - which is a good thing!

Well its a Sony 335, which is unchipped (bought from Sony Centre) and is unhackable. I did look into getting it chipped just to play Predator uncut (R1) as I really love this film, its one of my fav action films. But I found out that some (or all) of the European versions are uncut.
The problem that I have is mainly the cost (£100-ish) is a bit steep, i'm only an unemployed student, if it were £40 then i might consider it, but a hundred quid just to play Predator is a bit much.
So as far as I can gather the French, German, Spanish versions of Predator are uncut, can anyone else confirm this (the more the merrier).
I heard someone say that the Portuguese version is cut like our UK version and that the Aussie version IS the same as our version (ie identical - with only the English 5.1 track)

The 335 is a nice player. I have a Sony 725 myself, modded. Started off with a Panasonic R1 import as I was an early adopter when DVD just took off in the states, but when that died I had little choice but to buy a multi-region player, the benefit is the RGB output I can run. I don't buy movies on region2 however due to my dislkie for the PAL video format, but that's another discussion, and er, a much argued one around these parts I should add.
I hope you get your hands on a decent copy of Predator, Ben.

I know this is me being a pain, but is it not possible to keep posts regarding R2 releases in the main software section?
I just... get the feeling not many people come into this section.

It seems generally prefered that such posts are posted in here, yeah. A lot of people do check up on the Regional Area, it's just that a majority of the members here buy region1 stuff so naturally the major discussion goes on over in Software.

Why is this player unhackable? I have owned 5 different Sony DVD-Palyers, 3000, 715, 315, 725, 7700 and they all were hacked. Sony players are even hackable in a way that you are able to skip FBI warnings, turn off forced subtitles, skip forced adds or switch between audio tracks on Paramount/Fox titles.

Umm, it depends of which definition of "unhackable" you mean. The player can be 'hacked' ie chipped by an engineer to play import DVD's, but there is no push button hack.
