I just finished watching my copy of Predator (the 16x9 DTS version) and noticed that certain scenes have the front channel audio reversed. A couple that come to mind are the scene where Arnold pushes Carl Wheathers up against the tin wall of the shack at the rebel camp. The sound of the tin wall comes from the left and the Carl is being pushed up against the right wall. Another scene is when Carl Wheathers is killed by the Predator. You see a shot of the other guys standing on the log looking towards the left, yet Carl's screams come from the right channel. There are a few other scenes as well. Anyone else notice this?
Marc.

I just wish they'd release a 5-Star edition of this one. It's Arnold's best film.

I checked it out and the same thing happened on the Dolby track. That means the mix used for this disc is wrong, or possibly that was just how the film's orignal mix was. I no longer have my LD to compare.

Here's my notes from the earlier non-16x9 DVD.
1) The scene where Carl screams and the guys on the
big log look towards the left, but the scream comes
the right. (Seemingly incorrect) It's Chapter 17 on the
old non-16x9 version:
Dolby Digital 5.1 mix: The same as above
Dolby Digital 2.0 mix: Same as above
French 2.0 mix: Stereo music, but the directional screams
are now all mono!
I've heard a few occasions where sound mixers have
screwed up directional sounds, maybe due to lack of
sleep, or perhaps minor edits before it's final
release change the final edited perspective. In
this case I'm assuming it's a mixing error. I've also
heard cases where the front channels were indeed reversed.
The first P&S LD of Escape from New York comes to mind.
The anaglyph 3-D DVD of "Comin At Ya!" also has reversed
DD 2.0 audio.
So I started looking for other cases where the audio
should track correctly. And it does so on Chapter Six
(again non 16x9 edition) ..Arnold is looking through his
binoculars when he hears a yell to the left (in the left
front channel)..so he turns to his left and sees a prisoner
get executed. The audio tracked as it should there, but
has anyone else heard more 'reversed' tracking stereo
effects in this film?

I'll test mine out tonight to confirm. Reminds me of the AC-3 THX LD of Die Hard, in which all the foley effects during the "Shoot the glass!" scene were reversed. The DVD is correct though.
