I never recall Fox saying the UHE was Director Approved - any source for that? The Director was in jail as far as I know.
Pretty sure i read that at this site somewhere, didn't the director go to a soft jail where he could get out at weekends, i suppose i should have been careful with my wording, this is how rumours get spread. :D

McTiernan has only recently begun serving his jail term, and I don't believe he gets to leave on weekends.

No need to rush in on this one, I'm sure due to the UHE debacle, the new release of Predator will be gone over with a fine-tooth comb by all and sundry. I'm happy with my original Predator disc, so unless there's a marked improvement, I'll stick with that one. I don't like this trend of movies being reissued on Blu-ray. Things should be done right the first time, as Blu is meant to be a premium product (in theory).

Predator is a great film, an amazing film, but it wasn't shot in 3-D and I don't know about these conversions.
For all intents and purposes, the #1 thing I'm looking forward to the most out of this release is the new transfer that will hopefully be presented in 2D. In regards to the 3D, I'll be honest. I liked what I saw. This probably had more to do with watching it on a nice, clear JVC television at Comic Con with JVC 3D glasses, but I'd be lying if I said the 3D did nothing for me.

The information I received comes directly from James Finn at Fox.

However, just for you, Malcolm, I am going to again pose the question
again to Mr. Finn tonight when I see him. I'm certain that he's going to
reiterate to me that this is a brand-new transfer all around.

Check back in this thread later this evening.

Ronald, it's been more than a week. Get any new info?

Discs are popping up in the UK and EU countries, and the 2D disc is confirmed to just be the UHE. Not just the same transfer, but literally the same disc, same cover etc. Details here:

http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=224954&page=6

A reviewer there claims to have the disc and apparently cannot give details, but says the 3D version is essentially another smear job like the UHE.

What now, Fox?!

"Not the same transfer" and previous extras included. Surely this is good news?

No, I guess I wasn't the clear. The 2D disc in the set IS the UHE disc. It has ULTIMATE HUNTER EDITION on it. It isn't a new disc, they've just repackaged the one from 2010. Thus, it is the same transfer.

Listen, do me a favor....

Hold off on making a final judgement at this moment.

I say this only because I was told directly from Fox that this would be a new transfer.

This could very well be just a reissue of the former Blu-ray. I hope not, but I just don't
want everyone freaking out on these early reports.

Will do Ron. I'm hoping this issue only effects EU countries and that I'll be able to import a proper release from the U.S.!

Yes, that's why I said "if". I don't make any final decisions based on one review.
