    Hi guys,

Any suggestion on a pre-amp? Looking to go separate, already have Rotel power amps and just debating whether to get a receiver like Denon 3803/Kardon avr-7000 OR get a decent pre-amp.

Is there any pre-amp out there that's better, processor-wise, than the two receivers above in the same price range?

    Thanks,
    Mark

I'd probably go with the 3803 (notice the disclaimer in there though).

You mean preprocessor. I like the cheaper receiver + stereo preamp route. YMMV.

I do HT/music 50/50. Want a piece with DD/DTS, etc. I am leaning towards 3803 ... I've read many good things about it, I guess I will just have the extra amps. [IMG]

How does the Outlaw 950 compare to it?

    Thanks,
    Mark

When you say music, do you mean surround music (and does this mean DD/dts DVDs or DVD-A/SACD) or stereo?

    Craig,

No, just 2 channels music...though I am getting used to Denon Direct mode for 5 channels music.

DD/DTS, etc is for HT. (movie)

I would like to eventually go into DVD-A/SACD.

    Thanks,
    Mark

If 2ch music is the most critical listening, then get a cheaper receiver like a Denon 2802 and put the spare change into a stereo preamp for your pure stereo sources.
