Hello, I am new here and have a question. I am going to be building a projection theater and buying new AV equipment. I am considering a Pioneer Elite 7.1 reciever. Do you recommend that or going with something like a Outlaw Pre Amp/Amp seperate components? Any suggestions?

Both are very good choices. What speakers are you planning on using?

I am not sure yet. I thought I would figure this out first. Any suggestions.

Hmmm, If you check out my HT site you'll probably figure out that I'm a big Polk Audio fan, but there are so many other speakers out there that random suggestions would really be a dis-service. Knowing your budget would help, as well as decor concerns/WAF, etc.

Regarding the Receiver vs. Seperates issue, audition as much as you can. Read the online manuals for both as well as the spec's to see if each unit has the features that you want or need.

Please ask for specific model recommendations in the appropriate hardware area. The Basics section is for general discussion at the beginner level. Thanks, and welcome to HTF.

I always have preferred separates (pre/pro/amps) vs. a receiver. So I would recommend going that route. [IMG]
