Congratulations to Kino, the first distributor to announce/release 1000+ new-to-blu catalog titles of 1900-1989 vintage.
Criterion is 2nd with 627, and Shout Factory is 3rd at 519.
The top studio to release their own holdings themselves (and 4th overall) is Warner at 459.
It very much is. And 627 is actually an under-reporting, since I don't count the several titles they've re-issued on Blu-ray that were first released by other companies. (I only add a note to that title's listing). Kino and Shout have also released more than reflected when one considers this. Then of course there are the films from 1990 on.I think it's very impressive that a relatively small company, like Criterion, has managed to release 627 pre-1990 movies on BD. And, IMO, that achievement is particularly remarkable, since Criterion, to its credit, puts such an emphasis on the films contained on its Blu-rays having been transferred to Blu-ray with about the best picture & sound quality possible.
