powering my 12" cerwin vega (1 Viewer)

hey guys, i have a diy 3 cu ft ported cerwin vega sub i have
just finished, sounds ok off my 100 watt receiver but i need more power, has anyone ever tried a car amp for ht use.
much cheaper for where i am. any info???:confused: :confused: :confused:

first of all, you can get a nice subwoofer amplifier designed for home use at www.parts-express.com . They have 110 and 250 watt models ranging from $90 to $130. THey are great amps, and are cheaper than most car amps that I know of.
Secondly, car amps run on 12 volt electrical systems. the only way to use one would be to run it off of a battery charger or something like that. Not a good idea. Stick with home audio.
