Well, I've finally decided to bite the bullet and get a new Mac. My current model is a beige G3 (upgraded to a G4 500). I've kept it going for quite a while, but it's time for a new one.

I'm vacillating between the dual 1.8 and dual 2.0 (although the 2.0 is winning). Since neither comes with much RAM, I was wondering how much RAM other G5 users have. I use PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Quark, etc. Also what brands do you recommend?

    Thanks!

I have a dual 2.5 G5. I started with 1GB of RAM (2x 512) shipped with my computer, then I added another GB a couple months later. 2 GB seems to work really well with my computer. I may add another GB down the road. The amount of RAM you need depends on your computer use. It looks like you would do well to have 2GB or so. Don't buy extra RAM from Apple. It's way overpriced. I bought the extra GB from Crucial.com for under $150. It's not the cheapest, but quality is very high.
