I am curious on this question of Power consumption vs Power Output in regards to my new AMP(Rotel RMB-1066). Its Power consumption is 700w and its power output is 360w to 450w depending on configuration. Does this mean that the AMP has plenty of reserve power for those intense scenes? I noticed on Rotels Website that their big THX certified AMPS(1095,1075) consume 800watts yet only put out 1000w, 600w respectively. Not as much headroom as the 1066, especially the 1095 thats rated to produce more than it consumes.

Consumption will not necessarily have a relationship to the output power due to different types of amp designs and power supplies. Many Amps usually have consumption at idle and full power listed.
