I hope to buy an HD DVD player this month.

Since the Adam and Eve deal on the Toshiba HD-A2 fell through, I am now on the lookout again.

The best deal I have seen for the A2 is $425 at www.tweeter.com.

If you see a good deal on an HD DVD player, please post it here. Thanks.

I haven't "taken the HD DVD/Blu-ray plunge" yet, and probably won't for awhile, but if I were going to buy today I'd probably shop with ValueElectronics, due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback that Robert Zohn gets here at HTF and at AVSforum. Prices are very competitive and apparently his service can't be beat. See here:

When it does come time for me to buy that's where I'll likely go.

I thought I saw an add for a Toshiba (HD-A1?) for $379 in a newspaper last weekend here in the S.F Bay Area. Maybe someone can verify.

Toshiba HD-XA1 for $449? Done deal! Thank you ValueElectronics! And curse you, GlennH - you cost me money!

Can't wait for my HD-XA1 to arrive!

No doubt Robert at ValueElectronics deserves a thumbs up for customer service. Second to none. :D

well, you can get the xbox 360 HD-DVD drive for $200, if you already have a xbox 360 or a HTPC, that would be your cheapest player out there :)

just got the deal for $405 from electronics expo via amazon. those guys are terrible. purchased on the 3rd, and as of tday, no tracking, no responses, or anything. those leaving the negative feedback definitely are true.

I guess they are hit or miss. I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago. Within a couple of days I received an e-mail from them with a tracking number.

The DVD player arrived as promised, NIB.

good luck.
You either get best price or best service...you can never have both.
