Microsoft's next batch of Platinum Hit games will all be available in stores on August 17th.

    Blinx The Time Sweeper
    Dead or Alive 3
    Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
    007: Nightfire
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
    Medal of Honor: Frontline
    Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
    Pac Man World 2
    Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4
    Unreal Championship

I got this from XBOX users group. It's an official site but this is unconfirmed at the moment, however, I did see Unreal championship advertised in one of this past Sunday circulars as a platinum hit.

I hope it's true, because there's some titles here that I really want.

    Cheers.

I hate to say it, but most of these titles have been at or around $19.99 for quite some time. With the exception of Tony Hawk, MOH, and Hitman...

Does anyone know why the local EB is still charging a premium for the original DOA3 ($26.99) when the Platinum Hits version is available through the website for $19.99? [IMG]

    Nice.

I've wanted Medal of Honor and Dead or Alive 3 for some time at $50. At $20, it's a no-brainer.

Any chance that Jedi Outcast will make it to this point? I want it, but not for full price at this point...

It didn't sell nearly well enough for a platinum release.

I don't think that sales is a that much of a criteria in defining which titles become part of the Xbox Platinum collection. Although the official line is that "games selected for the program must have achieved a high sales volume", Blinx and Pac-Man didn't exactly burn up the charts.

Jedi sold well I thought? Either way, it deserves all the attention it can get, as it is a spectacular game

I picked up Hitman 2 and Medal of Honor used for $17.99 a piece.

I've played Hitman on the PC and I really like the console version. It is 16:9 enabled and looks fantastic on my 57" widescreen. While some have criticized the control scheme, I find it to be very user friendly and intuitive. I forgot how difficult and challenging this game can be, especially if you are trying for Silent Assassin ranks on all of your missions (so far I'm 2 for 3).

Medal of Honor is just......freaking awesome. Great sound, great graphics, and most importantly it's gameplay really draws you in and makes you feel like you are there. I'm just getting started and have only cleared the first levels at Normandy and I've been dropped off somewhere else in France to try and stow away on a German U-Boat. I'm hooked. If I could level one criticism, it would be that there are no advanced controller options to select the horizontal and vertical look sensitivity. So if you hear a German behind you (and you will thanks to the games excellent 5.1 sound) it takes an eternity to swing around and pump him full of lead. Nit picks aside, I'm glad I finally got this game.

    Cheers.

Microsoft have been quite clear that Platinum status isn't "purely on sales".

I had Hitman 2 and MOH and beat them both and sold/traded em; but Id pick them up again for $20. Id like to replay them.

I need to be more careful with what I sell and trade I guess. :b

My local Best Buy still doesn't have Hitman 2 or Lord of the Rings. The website is still listing them for more than $19.99. Hopefully that will change tomorrow.
