I was at ebay looking for a Gladiator poster for my home theater. And noticed someone had a poster signed by the cast. So I am looking at who he says signed it and one name surprised me..."Oliver Reed". Who died during filming.
This couldn't be legit?

There are many, many autograph forgeries on eBay. Possibly the majority, in fact, are fake when it comes to movie posters signed by entire casts. Some are believably executed, while some use very similar handwriting and the same pen for supposedly different people. Looks like you potentially found a big and amusing mistake, but someone will probably buy it! COAs mean nothing, unfortunately.

Ebay does nothing about poster fakery (selling reprints as originals is also very common practice) so it takes research to not get ripped off. Movie Poster Talk is a very helpful forum for questioning authenticity.

Todd,

can you provide me with the link.

I work at Antiquities in Las Vegas, a celebrity Autograph store.

I can tell you if it's real or not.

If your looking for an autograph poster of Gladiator, let me see what I can do for you, as we get autograph stuff every day.

We've been in business for 18 years.

John, I will email you the link. I wasn't looking for an autographed poster. Just the poster is fine. I will be coming to Vegas this November and actually staying at Caesars. I will come check out your store. By the way. Will the expansion be opened by the beginning of November?

YEP! It will be ready, big expansion.
it's going to bring in even more people.

Were on the side of the new entrance, next to Houdini's and the golf store.

we're leased on this end for another 10 years

I'm telling you right now, DON'T bring money or your credit card into our store.
you will die over the stuff we have.

I've already made some of my friends jealous of the stuff I've aquired, from working here.

Our store is the most famous and popular to shop at.
Tons of celebrities come through here as well

Sorry for the double post, but I have an update.

I already e-mailed Todd. and sent him the REAL autographs

In my opinion and doing a quick authentication, with the help of someone else here in the store, the autographs are fake.

Russell Crowe's autograph is not even near, his official one.

Oliver Reed and Richard Harris is fake as well.

Some of the signatures have the same type of pen movment, the swoops of the cursive letters appears to be the same.

John, you've got mail. :) Glad to hear the expansion is opening soon! Hope to get to Vegas this year! :D

Oh, and John is right about his store folks. VERY dangerous to one's budget. :D Thankfully last time I was there, my wife had the credit cards. ;)

Ron P,

Sure do!

http://www.antiquitieslv.com/catalog.html

Not sure about online prices, but we have a 18% off sale, for being in business 18 years.

probally better to call if you want someting, also since we get and sell stuff everyday, things move so much in the store.

the last piece that was very cool, that sold was a frammed Casino one-sheet signed by 3 actors(Ithink) and had three pieces of jewelry set inside.
Ring worn by Stone, Watch worn by Pesici and a watch by Deniro.

We also just got in a great Queen autograph guitar signed by all, including Freddie Murcury

John,

Damn! I wish I had the money to shop at your store. You would make an easy $25,000 off of me judging from what I looked at online!

Zachary,

there are alot of people that feel the same way.

But there are some that actually do spend that type of money all the time at our store, one of them being Mr. Jackson himself.

There's a autographed Marx brothers piece I'd love to have myself.

But, I've stuck with getting smaller pieces.

Recently we just had Geri Ryan buy a Antique Coke Machine.

Mike Tyson looking for Autograph boxer stuff.
Brad Garrett looking around and few days ago, Ron Campbell(I think thats his name),(The guy in the hallway of Groundhog Day)browsing around.

The other thing to is, we just sold a Autographed Gladiator Poster,(suppose to get another I think) but its still online(too hard too see up close) but we have small Gladiator pieces(I've seen recently) and they don't match the E-bay one.
