I've heard this rumor and seen it on a site. Is this for real?
Wolfgang Peterson is supposedly attached.

I loved the original growing up but why remake it?

I completely agree! The original, while somewhat cheesy, is still one of the best disaster movies ever. And I think it works still to this day because they used 'real time' special effects, not some over the top CGI stuff.

Well, considering that Peterson has proven that he can do realistic and harrowing water-related peril (The Perfect Storm), and that he knows how to create and maintain suspense while onboard submerged vessels (Das Boot), I have the highest confidence that he will give us remake to be proud of.

As directors go, they could have done far, far worse than Wolfgang Peterson.

Is it just me or does everything just look better in HD? I find myself seeing something and thinking "my, that's impressive" and then wondering if it's just because of the video quality.

It's great to see Richard Dreyfuss return to big screen acting. I'll go & see this just because of that guy :emoji_thumbsup:

Who here thinks that if Poseidon cleans up at the box office, a remake of The Towering Inferno can't be far behind.

I hear you Joel, but I when $$$ are involved, I wouldn't put anything past Hollywood.

Looks decent, from what we see of it. I'll definitely at least give it a rental.

Anyone got a link for a downloadable trailer?

I wouldn't mind a remake of Earthquake myself, with moderen visuals that would rock...and roll. ;)

It would also be one of the greatest home theater dvd's I would imagine. :)
