One of Home Theater Forum's esteemed Moderators and Video Calibrationist, Gregg Loewen, is willing to come to the Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington area to calibrate some RPTV's!

Calibration as quoted includes: Both DVD and HD input

    Mechanical disabling of SVM

    Protective screen removal

    Cleaning of optics and mirror

    Adjustment of overscan

    Image centering

    Geometry adjustment

    Convergence

    Electronic focus

    Mechanical focus

    Herman TLV Manuvuer

Front panel adjustment of user controls

Grey scale adjustment to 6500D K

    Lense Stripping

Other work can be performed (please email Gregg for pricing)

    It's the "Full Service Calibration"!

A standard calibration is $400, $550 if DVD and HD. In addition, there is a $50 deposit fee that goes towards air fare, car rental, etc.

If you are in the Portland or Seattle area and are interested in having Gregg calibrate your TV, let me know and we'll try to coordinate a tour.

    Thanks, DennisHP

edited to correct the spelling of Gregg's last name.

    Hi!!
Dennis, I have had 4 people contact me as well. I will be asking them to contact you directly to make a confirmed booking for whatever time suits your group.
It looks like this will be a "full" tour. If you are thinking about have your set calibrated please contact Dennis sooner vs later. I can only get so much time off from my day job. [IMG]

Awsome Gregg! I've had a couple people ask about the timing on this. Do you have a timeframe in mind?

    YGM!
Dates are important for me also. Please pass on more information to me as it becomes available.
    The only dates I'm not available are: January 17th & 18th and January 21st - 25th.
I would be available at night during those dates above though (if Gregg will work at night!) (after 5 or 6 PM), as I'm attending school during the day.
    Any other days are fine.
    Thanks
    Mike Bunting

Hi guys! The dates (at this point) are totally up to you. I will be in Southern CA at the start of Feb. So any time in January 14-21 or some thing like that would be fine. Ill be doing a quick weekend in NJ in January and a trip to TO (tentatively in late Feb).

Hope Greg can make it back to the Portland area, say, late summer. That's when I'll be needing a calibration on my as of yet unpurchased Toshiba 65hx81 [IMG]

We currently have 4 people lined up for calibrations. All we need is at least 2 more to make this a "Tour" and insure all participants get the 25% discount. If we can get the other committments soon, it looks like the tour will take place sometime in mid-late January if that fits everyone's schedule. However, the timeframe can probably adjusted so don't be afraid to jump in on this. I'm guessing the current participants would be happy to wait a little bit if it meant getting a couple more people involved.

    Go Michael Go!!
My schedule is still loosely open, my weekend of Jan 12th is filled. Not sure when the group in LA wants me out there either. As it stands right now, my January - Feb schedule will be completely booked within a couple more weeks.
PS: I AM NOT AN ISF CALIBRATOR. All ISF teaches is grey scale and front panel adjustments. I offer a great deal of additional tweeking in addition to grey scale and the FP adjustments (BTW, some ISF techs offer more than grey scale also). I have read the text book though [IMG]

I've read enough to convince me, but I live in the Bay Area (East Bay to be more precise) of Northern California and haven't read anyone mentioning knowing a good calibrator in the area.

So, does anyone know of anyone they'd recommend?

I just read that San Francisco Stereo has just been ISF Certified, but as Gregg pointed out, that's just one of the attributes I'm looking for in a calibrator.

To their benefit, however, I bought my B&W speakers from them. Is it likely whoever they send would likely be familiar enough with the speakers, and knowledgeable enough all around to review my setup for them as well?
