Portable DVD player that can display 4x3 discs properly?

    Is there a portable DVD player (with a 16x9 screen) that can properly display a 4x3 picture "pillarboxed" in the middle of the screen? How about the ability to zoom in and crop off the bars in a 4x3 letterboxed movie?

    I can't find any information regarding this issue. Most reviews only seem reference 16x9 DVD's.

    My Pioneer PDV-LC10 has three viewing modes -- one for anamorphic widescreen, one for pillarboxing 4x3 material, and a zoom mode for letterboxed 4x3 material. I would be surprised if the newer Pioneer models did not offer the same options.

    My Toshiba SD-P2000 pillarboxes 4x3 material perfectly and automatically.
    You can also zoom up letterboxed discs, but that's not automatic. You have to punch a button on the remote, or a few buttons on the front/top panel.

    I've seen it recently for $569 at my local Best Buy (retail $800).
