My new subwoofer will be facing my listening area. Does it matter where on the box the port is located? Is it better to put the port on the same side as the driver?

Also, when calculating the length of the port, (mine is 20" long), should I compensate for the depth of the baffle or panel? For example, my front baffle is 2.25" thick. Should I extend mt port 2.25" or keep it the same length that my calculations suggest no matter the depth of the panel?

    Thanks,

    Joel

Just make sure the airflow of the port is unobstructed.

Also, you need the port length to take into account the thickness of the walls of the enclosure. For example, if you ported it on the front with the 2.25" thick walls, then you only need 17.75" of more port to get to the 20" in port length.
