I just recently put together my first HT system. I have a JBL 250 subwoofer.

Last nite...while still testing out/tweaking system, I was scanning through the DVD menues in several DVDs. Every so often, there would be an audible "POP" from the sub. Not real loud...but alarming...

What is it? I am hooked up by digital audio. I have yet to calibrate everything but I don't think that should have anything to do with it.

Let me know...thanks!!

This will often happen when the receiver switches between two-channel and 5.1. It’s not uncommon for DVD’s to utilize both when switching between the menu and other “start up” displays.

Popping sounds is not normal and it's probably indicates that your sub level is too 'hot' vs. overall audio volume. NOTE: Most Menu volume is higher vs. the actual DVD movie.

Turn it down and REF Calibrate your HT setup ASAP.
