I am thinking of buying these bookshelves, can someone whos used them tell me how they perform, i have auditioned them and they sounded pretty good to me, they retail for around 350 a pair, you guys think its a good decision or are there better bookshelves from Polk? I can at present go with only bookshelves and that too i have to buy from circuit city only- that leaves me with just Polk and Infinities and i like the Polks better. Thanks for your advice in advance!

Between I'd definitely go Polk over Infinity, but thats totally up for debate. I think that if at all possible I'd take the step up to the RTi6s. I think they'll have a much better sound and later if u want surround you can get RTi4s easily (cc has a lot of open-box specials on these) and a CSi3.

No Chuck, The Energies are still there, im replacing the Polk RM6700 set i have, which is the Bedroom HT, since CC has a one year upgrade policy i thought ill make use of that and upgrade to better bookshelves. Thanks a lot for the tips Raj, ill definetly look into the RTi's and CSi's. Appreciate the help :)

taking full advantage of cc's return policy, and just to satisfy some curiosity, i've listened to both a pair of rti6s and a pair of monitor40s as fronts for music in my setup in the last few months. with a sub, and contrary to what i was "supposed" to like, i actually liked the sound of the 40s over the rti6s. some might consider it a harsher sound but, imo, the 40s were much more articulate.

at $135/each, i think the 40s are a pretty good buy.

Is that so Scott? Thats interesting.. Well i will be looking at either Monitor 40's or RTi6's now for the front mains, probably a Csi as center channel.I saw some bipoles(or maybe dipoles) yesterday which ill try for side surrounds(dont remember the model number- some fx something i think) Are there any bipoles which CC keeps which i should look for?
Thanks again!

To update you guys :) i finally upgraded my speakers and got a totally awesome deal, i went in for RTi6s as the mains(found them better sounding than monitor 40s) , CSi3 as the center channel, a pair of Fxi3's(dipole/bipole switchable) as side surround and a pair of RTi4's as rear speakers, the best part is i got the whole package which would normally retail for around 1300 bucks just for 610 $ because CC has all of these on open box sale :D i just paid 100 odd bucks for it in the difference of Polk RM6700 which i returned!! Totally sweet deal, now will get to compare the RTi6's with my Energy C3's as well. Once again thanks for your inputs guys! Appreciate it
Cheers

Looking forward to the rti-energy comparison Daman. Did you get the black or cherry finish?

Thanks a ton guys :) Well to answer Chuck - i got the black finish, was a nice change since the Energies i have are all in Canadian Maple Finish.
I finally got to compare the Rti6 with the Energy C3's today morning.. played a Springsteen CD on 2 channel stereo mode and compared them(reciever was Yamaha HTR 5790). Overall the Energies were better sounding than the RTi6's but the difference isnt a whole lot, i had to connect the speakers 3-4 times and play the same song over and over again to decide. The Energies are more detailed and crisper than the Polks.. the lows were pretty much similar in both it was the highs where i found the energies better. So there you have it :) All in all im very happy with both the buys :D
Cheers!!
