So do you think this is a good buy? Can these Polk speakers compare with HSU Ventriloquist or the Energy Act6?

I've yet to find a HTiB speaker set that I was satisfied with, much less any speakers under $500, so I'm the wrong person to ask. Was just posting the correct URL. [IMG]

For a 25 x 30 room (750 square foot) you will be hugely disappointed by satellite speakers. I would highly recommend you audition tower loudspeakers for your fronts, and a far more capable subwoofer.

What is your primary use for these speakers? Movies or music?

I will be usally watching movies. I was mistaken, my room is more about 15 x 20. I will probably be be getting these Polk ones or the Energy Act6 or Hsu Ventriloquist.

Since your just looking for opinions i think Polks suck. sorry i have no experience with the other brands you named. like the other poster said, you may very well be disapointed with that size room.

I also avoid Polk, especially at this price range. Personally I would lean towards the Hsu speaker package, but that being said, I haven't heard any of the three packages.

    What receiver do currently own?

Looks like I wont be getting these Polk speakers after all *sigh*. I am now looking into a few speakers.

    1. JBL SCS300.7
    price - $699.00

    2. Hsu Ventriloquist VT-12/STF-1
    price - $498 factory-direct; $744 list in stores

    3. Energy act6
    price - 800.00

(these three i found on this website, http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/art...2&print_page=y)

    4. BIC Acoustech Cinema Series 6 Speaker System
    price - 799.00

(and the 4th speaker is found here,
    http://www.sounddistributors.com/buynow.asp?prid=1054)

I am currently using a 10+ yr old sony receiver (i know, its time for an upgrade) and it has no speaker out jack.

    You have a pretty wide budget from 300 to 900. For one if you get a set you will most liekly need to get a new receiver. Either the HSu or the SVS package as they both come with excellent subs;

The above link is for the b-stock (may have blemishes) which is where I got mine although mine had no flaws what-so-ever.

Im thinking on getting 5 of these
    http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Infin...!1158536941549

Using them as 2 surround, 1 center, and 2 for front left and right. What do you guys think? I will also have to look for a subwoofer to go along with them. I am currently using a 10yr old SONY AVR though i'll upgrade that soon.
