I'm a little behind the times in the audio world. I have a twenty year old set of Polk Audio SDA1's that, after all these years and abuse still sound great.

The only trouble is (wife speaking here) "they're so darn big." I'm looking at investing in a smaller system and need some help in doing so.

Bose are out of the question.....too much money for such lifeless sound. I like Polk Audio and have listened to some of their smaller speakers. I've also listened to Paradigm speakers (Cinema series). Unfortunately I haven't been able to compare them side by side. Are there any other speakers I should check out before I purchase one or the other of these?

    Thanks in advance.

    How about the HSU Ventriloquist?

I am personally not a fan of small speakers. If you listen to music at all, you need to have decent main speakers at the very least, but even movies benefit from having speakers that have good response up front. Small surrounds are tolerable, but the mains need to be able to hold their own.
