Episodes are vibrant-looking and sharp, The season-premiere "Trick Book" is 1:37:12 and so is not the syndicated two-part version. Other run times are all around the 50:00 mark give or take a few seconds. The season finale "Deadline Death" runs 48:54. A terrific release. Fans will not be disappointed. Shout, bring on Season 4 soon!

The release is awesome! I see it received the Hart to Hart treatment in that the screen size is box screen and not stretched like other releases. PQ is very good. Colors are vibrant and clear. The episodes do look unedited. I am glad I continued collecting the series and have the first 3 seasons on dvd.

Great job by Shout Factory!

By box screen, are you meaning that displayed in 16x9 widescreen it maintains the correct aspect ratio? If so, I can understand the reasoning for doing it, but i wish they wouldn't on a DVD release since there can be some degradation vs. the standard 4x3 release where one has to put the TV in 4x3 mode to prevent stretching.

Kasey has pics of what the screen size looks like. You don't have to put your TV in 4X3 mode because Shout released it in 4X3 mode like they did with Hart to Hart. I was going to also add that the picture quality is equal to the Barnaby Jones release of season 1. It looks remastered like the BJ and Hart to Hart release.

I realize the images are 4x3, but what cannot be determined from those screen captures is whether the black bars to the sides making it 4x3 are in the actual image itself (i.e., when the TV is in 16x9 mode) or not in the image (i.e., you have to switch the TV mode to 4x3). From what I recall later seasons of Hart to Hart were the first scenario, as are the new Rifleman releases.

Ultimately, the quality of the source is what makes the biggest difference. However, the DVD spec is based on a 4x3 image, so if the bars are integrated into the image to look correct in 16x9 mode then that means the black bars on the sides are taking up some of the stored 4x3 image that then gets expanded out to fit the 16x9 screen. That is a loss in some quality. Not saying these can't still look great, just that like lower the bitrate to fit more episodes on a disk it is a factor to some degree.

I believe there were at least two other shows spun from Police Story besides Police Woman. One with David Cassidy and I thought Lloyd Bridges character Joe Forester had one too. I may have caught the David Cassidy one on WGN once in the 90's. Does anyone know if these two shows were syndicated much, if at all? Are the video rights also with Sony? It would be nice to have the Police Story Universe complete on home video. I found the Police Story programs to be top tier 70's police dramas.

Amen to that, Richard. It would be nice to see Shout complete this series sooner rather than later.
Sean, I have a feeling they will as they don't run into the same issues the Lou Grant Season 5 set ran into before finally getting all that rectified and will be out in the springtime of 2018, hence why i believe it comes out in March or for sure in April or May at the very latest for the final season of Police Woman.
