    Hi all!!

Since they finally accepted my real name here, let me get down to what I've come here for.

I'm fairly new to the whole home theater setup, although I have one all Sony setup currently that I know is not hooked up to the optimal performance but I'll work with it for now.

Now, I'm trying to stomp with the big dawgs!!

I have recently purchased a Mitsubishi 46" Widescreen HDTV (Platinum series), A Pioneer Elite VSX-36TX THX Ultra reciever, and a Pioneer Elite DV-C36 5-DVD changer.

I would like to purchase the Bose Acoustimas 15 surround sound speaker system, but am not sure if this is the "best" performance wise way to go. I need to know anybody's opinion on what's the best way to go or if this is the most optimal route. BTW, the room is 16'x 9'.

Bose is not highly regarded around here. Check out this link.
Generally, for the money you would spend on Bose, you can get a much better set of speakers. Do plenty of research and auditioning before making your purchase.

So, I see...what then should I get with the setup I have if I don't want big speakers? I would like to stick with the "satellite" sized speakers, can someone tell me what else besides "doze-bose" is out there? They don't even hafta be that size, a little bigger than the AM-15's is not a problem...looking to spend about $1,000.00

Definitive Technologies makes a small set that is pretty highly regarded. Energy is another one that comes to mind (there may even be someone selling an Energy set up in the Hardware for Sale/Trade section right now). Another very popular Internet choice is Norh www.norh.com . They may be bigger than you want, but I've heard nothing but excellent opinions about them (if you like the looks, which many don't). For $850, you can get five 4.0 speakers in ceramic (which supposedly sound better than the wood).
That leaves you subless for the time-being, but seeing as how it looks like you really want to do things once (instead of upgrading over and over again), your best bet, IMO, is to perhaps spend the grand now on five (or six) good speakers and wait on the sub (and then get an SVS, Adire, Hsu, Paradigm, etc...) down the line. I know there are a few people that have a Norh/SVS setup that they absolutely love (I've got the SVS, Norhs are next). It's relatively cheap compared to what you could spend (especially since you even had Bose in the running).

P.S. Being an impatient man, another option I might do for a grand is buy JBL's little satelite speakers (Northridge series?) for about $250 and then spend the rest on an SVS. I think that's what the JBLs cost, and with $750 at SVS www.svsubwoofers.com , you can really get an amazing amount of bass (maybe get the 25-31CS+...550+shipping), and that still leaves 200 and change to get something to power it with. You would not be disappointed, IMHO.
P.P.S. Fantastic start with the Mitsu and Elites, BTW. Thank God you posted here before buying Bose, though [IMG].

Checked out the north's, they look good..except I was really looking forward to the whole "attached to the wall" look, but it's manageable. They look like something one might find on an alien space ship while he's staring at the walls getting an anal probe and the aliens are listening to Busta Rhymes...anyway, I'm rambling...I'll look into those, the JBL's I saw at BB just did not impress me, and the SVS sub...maybe too much power for such a small room...but, if it'll pass with wifey I'll def get it. Thanks!
