I am going on a trip this coming weekend, and will have tons of free time on my hands. That being the case, I am seriously considering getting a GBA SP (if I can find one!)

I've not played ANY (that's correct, not a single one) games on a Nintendo handheld (except Tetris on the original GameBoy).

I'd like to hear some ideas for some AAA titles, that could tide me over while I am on this trip. I want to keep the cost of games capped at $100, so that would mean I get 3 regularly priced new games, or some combination of old and new games.

I'm already interested in Castlevania Aria of Sorrow and Metroid Fusion.

Is there any specific Mario titles that are remarkable?

The mario games on GBA are the NES versions in pocket form.

I suggest going to eb and picking up the following so you have 4 good games to play

    Advance Wars New -$20
    Metroid Fusion Preowned $25
    Super Mario Advance Preowned $25
Super Mario Advance 2 Preowned $25

You can always switch one of the marios for the first castlevania

Definitely Advance Wars. I've got 6 games for my Gameboy and that's the one I play more than the rest combined.

I'd recommend SMA3 instead of the first one. It's Yoshi's Island (I think, it's the second SNES one) instead of SMB2 (not really a Mario title). The Mega Man Battle Network series is great, they're action RPGs. I have over 40 hours on the second one, so they aren't short by any means. All the Castlevania titles are short, but good. If you like 2D Sonic games both Sonic Advances are good as well. The Phantasy Star Collection is almost a must have in my opinion; it contains PS 1, 2 and 3. If you like A Link to the Past then you should pick up Four Swords. To narrow down your choices, if you've played the SNES ports (SMA, Zelda) then there's nothing new in the GBA incarnations. Advance Wars is a must-have, no doubt about it.

If you have $10-$20 left over after picking up those other titles, Karnaaj Rally is a good top-down racer and Virtua Tennis is a great tennis game that can be had right now for $9.99 at Toys R Us.

If you are a fan of RPGs, then pick up Golden Sun 1, Breath of Fire 1 and 2, and Castlevania CotM. There a Golden Sun 2, but it best to play after you beat the first game.

I'd say Advance Wars, Metroid Fusion for certain.

All of the Mario games, brand new are $29.99 at this moment.

Crash Bandicoot 1 for the GBA is $10 this week at Best Buy.
Virtua Tennis, like Allen recommended for $10.
Defenders of the Crown is $10 at BB if you can track it down.

There are plenty of good games to be found for around $100. You should be able to track down about 5, if you look carefully.

    Good luck!

I would say that Advance Wars and Metroid Fusion coulf fill most any trip just by themsleves. Golden Sun can be added if you want an RPG in there too.

Even if you finish Advance Wars and Metroid, you'll just want to start playing them all over again [IMG]

Can someone explain Advance Wars to me?

Turn Based Strategy, right? What's the game about? I've seen screenshots, and I have to be honest...I don't get it. But one thing I do know is that everyone who plays it says it's fun.

Incidently, I found a Platinum GBA SP at Kay Bee toys, and I also picked up a "NAMCO Museum" cart. Who can say no to MS Pac Man and Galaga?

Turn based strategy is probably the best way to describe Advance Wars. I kind of think of it like the old Avalon Hill style of strategy games where you move from square to square.

I love the game, just haven't been able to have the time to finish it.

Namco Museum is another GBA game that I've played quite a bit. I find Ms. Pac Man a little frustrating since my thumb always seems to slide off the D pad at the worst time. [IMG] Galaga is great though. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed that game.

Well, I picked up the following games:
    Namco Museum: $15
Tetris Worlds (Gotta have tetris!): $20
    Yoshi's Island (Preowned): $25
Advance Wars (I love it!): $20
Virtua Tennis (Toys R Us says the sale is "next week"): $15
Crash Bandicoot - The Huge Adventure: $10

So, I spent a little more than $100. I also have about $27 in store credit at EBX. I'll prolly get either Metroid Fusion or a Castlevania game.

Thanks for the recommendations, 'specially Advance Wars.

That's too strange about Virtua Tennis. I picked it up at a local TRU for $10 last week.

    Good selection to start with.

    Have fun!
