I wanted to throw this question out to the members, because I know you know more about this subject (reissue The Grey Fox) than I do. I saw this movie in a theater when it was first released, and Richard Farnsworths performance was so subtle and moving, I've never forgotten it.

Does anyone out there know what's going on with F. Coppola and Zoepp? Thanks

This is a good movie, and so far, if I'm not mistaken, it is available only in a pan-and-scan format. Farnsworth was extraordinary, an actor whose career only began late in life, and whose gentle nature and expressive face won him critical and popular acclaim. He didn't make many movies, but his role choices were wise. I'd recommend THE STRAIGHT STORY (by David Lynch of all people!) as the best example of his screen persona. It was also his last flm.

I'd buy The Grey Fox DVD in an instant. At this late date I'd be content with a widescreen transfer of the best available print, but by all means, restore it first.

I'm not good with trivia, but I believe Farnsworth had a long career as a Hollywood stuntman before he was offered speaking roles. He starts making the transition around the time of Papillon (1973).
