hi, i bought a RCA RT2600 and the remote that came with it, will not control the volume of the receiver. and that is the problem, anyone know how to fix it?

If you have good batteries in it, and if they’re in right, it’s probably defective. Did you check the manual for any relevant information? Like maybe it’s switched to “TV” or “Cable” mode?
