I'm trying to help my friend set up his system, but I can't figure out what to do. He has a Denon 3000, don't know how old it is, but it doesn't have dvd inputs. He also has a combo dvd, vcr. I don't know where to plug the dvd/vcr in to. The VCR 1, VCR 2, LDP? I've tried them all, and I don't get any sound. I know everything works because there's also a cd player hooked up, and the sound works. Please help me figure out where to plug in everything. Thanks

First, take the working CD feed and plug it into VCR1. Turn the Receiver to VCR1. Do you get sound?

You need to repeat this to make sure the various inputs on the receiver are working. VCR1, VCR2, LDP.

Then, insert a tape into the VCR, hit play and plug the L/R output on the VCR side into the CD inputs on the receiver. Switch to CD on the receiver - do you hear the tape?

If you try both of these, you will find some part that does not work. Once you solve this, things should work better.
