Never have seen Bruce Almighty, but how in the world did I miss Evan Almighty. This would be a great and more recent selection. Great family movie.

What Dreams May Come wouldn't be a good choice, IMO. It's not even a good movie anyway :)

How adult can the films be? If some foul language and subject matter aren't out of bounds, I'd suggest The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption.

Might want to skip "Bruce Almighty" as they throw out the F-bomb in the movie.

I would second "Evan Almighty" if you're looking for a relatively new, family-oriented movie.

If you're not sure about the sex/violence/language content of a movie, this is a great resource:

They detail everything.

Some seriously bizarre suggestions, and some good one too. Regarding What Dreams May Come, I think it is quite a good movie, but not at all right for this presentation. It is a serious downer for one thing.

What about "A River Runs Through It"

A River Runs Through It (1992)

Won an Oscar for Best Cinematography. Tom Skerritt gives a wonderfully restrained performance as a Presbyterian Minister.

Rated PG for momentary nudity, and some language in a family drama.

A River Runs Through It is a wonderful suggestion.

I'll throw in the latest Little Women with Winona Ryder ('94 I think).

Regionally noteworthy and in the same vein as others...a very good family movie.
