    I have about $2000 budgeted.

I am kind of a sony brand kinda guy, but wondering if the best option
is to stray to a different brand because of the price.

I am leaning towards Sony KDL40S2000 or Sony KDL46S2000.

I am wondering if you suggest others that are similar.

Also, I am debating on buying from a chop shop internet site to save
money. Since either of the two options I mentioned are hard to get
under $2000 at a retail store.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The tv will be in my living room, not really used for games, but for
    watching cable tv, dvds, etc.

Also, what's your take on extended warranties. I am thinking that I
should at least try to get a 3 yr if not 5.

Also, someone suggested on another board the Samsung LN-S4095D.

    Any help would be appreciated!

Both the Sony KDL40S2000 or Sony KDL46S2000 are last generation 720p models, and well overpriced. For your budget I would take a look at the brand new Sharp Aquos 42" LC-42D62U, which offers full 1080p.

The Samsung 95D and 96D models will offer superior picture quality to both Sony S2000 models, though I've been disappointed with the new Samsung models..

Also take a look at the Sony KDL-V40XBR1, which is an excellent last generation set. It has been replaced by the newer XBR2 and XBR3 models, so you may be able to find a great deal.
