I just saw on IGN that Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 supported online gaming. The guy also said that while Sony won't release their modems until next year, a few third party manufacturers already did. He said they played the game online and apparently it was quite good.

I checked on the web but I can't find anything on these modems. Anyone got one already or knows what's going on?

Thanks!

How does it works?

Can you meet people online to play or is it only peer-to-peer?

Does it works through a firewall, on a lan?

And which games currently support online gaming?

Simon,

Up to 4 people can play in the same game. The only probelem you will have with a forewall is if you want to host a game. I have DSL and the time I spent online with it was great. Not one time did I experience any lag.

As far as I know, this is the only game for the PS2 that is online at the moment.

THPS3 is the only online game so far.

I have a linkSys adapter for DSL, but I don't have any online PS2 games yet.

Any word if FFXI will require a special modem or something?

If you have ever used Gamespy to play online games, then you will have a general idea of how THPS3 works online since the online browser is "powered by gamespy". I didn't notice a chat feature but you can chat in game using the controller or USB Keyboard.

How do you join a game online?

Is there a server list somewhere or do you have to know the person who starts the server?

There are other, unsupported modems/adapters that work as well, but the NetGear EA101 ain't one of 'em. :P (I found that out the hard way).
