Playing my MP3 player through my speakers (1 Viewer)

Just wondering iam using a yamaha rxv-730 reciever right now with my gamecube hook into the reciever. Just wondering would it be possible to still get the picture on the tv for the gamecube, and play my mp3 player through the speakers?

I can do this with my Marantz receiver. If I am on a video source like DSS, and switch to a non-video, audio only source like CD, the picture for the DSS input will still be on my tv but the sound is from the CD input. I'm not sure about a Yamaha though. Kinda handy for watching hockey games when the announcer is not very good(ie Pierre Macguire on TSN broadcasts). I can either listen to music or listen to the broadcast of the game on a radio station.

I have the Yamaha rx-v1300 and what you want to do is covered in the manual, i dont know if your model has this feature though, look it up in the manual.
