Is there a difference between the Parts Express plate amps 300-794 and 300-793 other than the remote. I noticed the 793 is rated at 250 watts and the 794 is rated at 272. I was just wondering because the 794 is out of stock and the 793 is in stock. Also what other stores sell these amps.

    Thanks

Tom, I just called PE and they are subsituting the 700-793 for the same price as the 700-794, $129.90. Still seems to be a great deal. Mine ships today.
    Peace Out~[IMG]

    Thanks Hank.
I just canceled my order from Parts Express in time and reordered it from MCM.
Although, the gal I spoke with said to get the $105 price you had to order 10. She would not budge on this. "I do not know anything about the on-line stuff" she said. So, I ordered it for their regular price of $129.00 over the phone, called right back and a different gal answered and gave it to me for $105. [IMG]
So anyway, I am happy with this as I really did not want a remote controled amp and it is the exact amp that PE was selling.
Thanks again for the link Hank. Saved me $24.00[IMG]
    Peace Out~[IMG]

Wow, nice price. No mention of any bass-boost, wonder if it's got the 6dB @ 35Hz that used to be the default for this model.

I sent an email to MCM Tech support regarding the bass boost, but haven't heard back yet. A phone call yielded a customer service rep. She read from the spec sheet a bass boost (?db) at 30 hz, and could not tell me if they will remove the boost before shipping. Guess I'll have to wait for the e-mail.

I'm also looking to build a sonosub w/ either a Shiva or Tempest. I'm new to this and have played around with the freeware design programs, but have no clue about which amp to power the sub. Does anyone if there is a difference between the PE plate amp and the MCM?

The latest PE ones are shipping without boost.... I'm pretty sure they've been like that for a month or more IIRC.
I modded the boost on mine though.
    Read about it here

You know, if you order online from MCM you get an extra 10% off for any order over $50.00.

Any word yet on whether this amp has the bass boost DISABLED or not?

It's the same amp, but PE is disabling the bass boost on theirs before shipping them. This amp from MCM may still have the bass boost enabled--which is what I want to find out very soon so I can order me one (or two) [IMG] .
You enter the coupon code during the checkout.

If these boosts and filters are so evil, why do they put them in I wonder?

The boost is there to exaggerate the low end response, but with careful design, it becomes undesirable for those who want tight flat low end bass response for their HT subwoofers.

Pat, John and Jedd, actually it helped bring the f3 much lower at regular listening levels... but yup, it can lead to unflat bass response depending on the driver/box....and it can lead to premature bottoming of the driver.
BTW: PE doesn't mod the amps to boostless, they come boostless straight from the factory. It takes a while to mod the amp.... PE would never have enough time to mod as many amps as they sell [IMG]

Since the mod looked so easy to do, I decided to order one of these amps on sale. I'm so weak...

I ordered the same amp from PE yesterday, but I am sticking with them. They wasted time with my tech questions [IMG]
